Travel and Lodging

For most international travelers, the most convenient option to get to Hamilton is to fly to Toronto Pearson International Airport:

1. By Taxi or Ride-sharing (Uber/Lyft)

  • Travel time: Approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • Cost: Around $100 to $130 CAD, though it can vary based on the time of day and traffic.
  • How: Once you exit the airport, you can either grab a taxi from the designated taxi stands or use a ride-sharing app like Uber or Lyft.

2. By Direct Bus from Pearson (GO Transit)

    • Travel time: Around 1.5 hours, depending on traffic.
    • How: You can take the GO Transit Route 40 (Pearson Airport to Hamilton), which directly connects Pearson to Hamilton. The bus station is located on the ground level of Terminal 1. If you land in Terminal 3, you can take the free train at the airport to get to Terminal 1, following the signage at the airport. The standard fare for this trip is around $12.70 per person, with possible discounts if you have a PRESTO card. This bus will leave you Hamilton Go Center. From the Hamilton terminal, you can take a taxi or public transport to McMaster University (it’s about 15-20 minutes from the bus terminal) or the Homewood Suites Hotel.

Another option is to make John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport your final destination. The Airport is only 15 minutes from downtown and McMaster Campus.

Passenger airlines connecting travelers to Canadian and international destinations include:

  • Air Canada & Landline Company – skip the drive to and from Toronto Pearson Airport with a connection at Hamilton International Airport via daily motorcoach on Air Canada flights.
  • Porter Airlines – Fly to and from Canadian destinations including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Halifax.
  • WestJet – The Canadian airline connects Hamilton travelers to its global connecting hub in Calgary.
